COMPLETE PROGRAM OF TASTING AND MASTERCLASS IN THE SALON OF THE BEST WINES OF SPAIN

The regulatory councils Bizkaiko Txakolina, Campo de Borja, Cava and Ribeira Sacra, the Tarsus winery and the Spanish Wine Academy project will be leading seminars where some of the highest rated wines of the year will be announced.


The XXI Hall of the Best Wines of Spain will be held on November 22 and 23 in Hall 5 of IFEMA MADRID and will be attended by more than 350 exhibiting wineries that will present more than 2,000 references.

Madrid, November 10, 2021.- Peñín has presented the program of activities for the twenty-first edition of the Best Wines Show, which will serve to discover some of the most representative denominations of origin, grape varieties and elaborations of Spain. Six tastings and masterclasses given by leading sommeliers and oenologists, and made up exclusively of wines rated 90 or more points in the recently published Peñín 2022 Guide.

On Monday at 12:30 pm, the Ribeira Sacra will be in charge of opening the activities program with the tasting entitled "The taste of a landscape". In it, the renowned oenologist Mª Isabel Mijares will present to the audience a selection of wines from this production area.

Campo de Borja wines will return, one more year, to the Hall of the Best. José Ignacio Gracia, DO secretary, will lead the tasting "Repeat with me ... gar na cha", which will take place at 2.30 pm on Monday and where eight references will be announced that will show the personality, quality and complexity of the wines Made with Grenache, the main variety of the appellation of origin.

Starting at 4.30 p.m., attendees will be able to discover the wines of Tarsus, a winery located in Anguix (Burgos), in the heart of the Ribera del Duero, which stands out for its monovarietals and coupages made with local ink and Cabernet Sauvignon. Teresa Rodríguez, the winery's winemaker, will be in charge of presenting the most representative references of her in the tasting Redesigning the future of Tarsus.

The first day will close with the presentation of the Spanish Wine Academy, a project by Bodegas Ramón Bilbao that seeks to bring the world of Spanish wine closer to professionals and amateurs. Discover the diversity of Spain as a country of wines and its main wine regions is the title of the tasting that will cover eight denominations of origin, eight landscapes and eight wines, and which will be given by Rodolfo Bastida, general director of the Zamora wine division Company, Alberto Saldón, head of the Spanish Wine Academy, and Carlos González, director of the Peñín Guide. In addition, the tasting will pay tribute to La Palma and its winemaking tradition with the inclusion of a wine made on the Canary Island.

On Tuesday at 11:30 a.m., professionals will be able to discover the secrets of Cava in an activity where the history and elaborations of this denomination of origin, the benchmark for sparkling wines in our country, will be presented. In the tasting D.O. Cava: the new era of excellence, sommelier Xavi Viles will present a selection of seven sparkling wines from seven renowned wineries, all rated 95 or more points in the Peñín Guide.

The tasting program for this edition will end with the Bizkaiko Txakolina wines. The session, entitled Bizkaiko Txakolina: evolution and revolution of a wine with its own identity, will be given by the Bilbao sommelier Iñaki Suarez and will present the best whites of the D.O., wines that stand out for their marked personality.

The XXI Hall of the Best Wines of Spain will take place on November 22 and 23, 2021 in Hall 5 of IFEMA MADRID. At the event, 350 Spanish wineries will be presented that will present more than 2,000 wines with a rating of 90 to 100 in the Peñín Guide to the Wines of Spain.
