AGRICULTURE PUBLISHES IN THE BOE THE LIMITATIONS OF NEW VINEYARD PLANTATIONS FOR 2022

29-12-2021

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) has published this Tuesday 28 in the Official State Gazette (BOE) two resolutions on the limitations to the authorization of new vineyard plantations and the replanting restrictions.

The first of these resolutions sets the area that may be granted for authorizations for new plantations in 2022 at 946 hectares, which represents 0.1% of the vineyard area planted on July 31, 2021.

The second establishes the limitations on the authorizations of new vineyard plantations and restrictions on the authorizations for replanting and for the conversion of planting rights into the qualified denomination of origin (DOCa) Rioja for 2022.

Regarding the limitations of DOCa Rioja, it indicates that the area available for new planting authorizations in the defined geographical areas will be, at most, 0.1 hectares by the year 2022.

This second regulation also publicizes the decisions of the Community of Castilla y León on the Ribera de Duero protected designation of origin (PDO), which passes through a limitation to 100 hectares of authorizations for new vineyard plantations in 2022.

For this denomination, the MAPA has detailed that there are no restrictions on replanting and the conversion of planting rights.

For its part, the Basque Government has limited authorizations for new vineyard plantations covered by the Bizkaiko Txakolina / Txakoli de Bizkaia / Chacolí de Bizkaia PDO to two hectares and those of the Getariako Txacolina / Txacolí de Getaria PDO / Chacolí de Getaria.

In these two denominations of the Basque Country, the text specifies that there are restrictions on replanting authorizations and planting rights.

In 2021, a limitation on authorizations for new plantations and restrictions on authorizations for replanting and conversion of rights in the DOP Cava was approved for application in 2022.
