SHERRY WINE EXPORTS GROW BY 25% COMPARED TO 2019 WITH A VALUE OF 15.1 MILLION, AN INCREASE OF 29.1%.

Sherry wine exports grew by 25 percent in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2019, according to the Minister of the Presidency, Public Administration and Interior of the Junta de Andalucía, Elías Bendodo, during a visit to a winery in the Marco de Jerez.

The province of Cádiz between January and June this year closed exports of sherry wines worth 15.1 million euros, 29.1 percent more than in the same period of the previous year and 25 percent more than in 2019.

This figure is "another example" that "the economic recovery is reaching all sectors in Andalusia", said Bendodo, who understands that the wineries "have exceeded with high marks the sales that were made before the pandemic".

The Minister referred to the support provided by the regional government to companies to continue growing abroad thanks to the Strategy for the Internationalisation of the Andalusian Economy 2021-2027 that Extenda has launched with a budget of 618 million euros, which, in his opinion, "is not an expense, but an investment".

Also to help the wine sector, 13 million euros in aid has been set up to deal with the consequences of covid-19: 10.5 million for wineries and 2.5 million for vine growers.

With this aid, the Andalusian Government has injected liquidity into a sector that has had and is still having a hard time due to the drop in wine sales, the grape surplus, the loss of the tourism sector linked to wine tourism and the maintenance of US tariffs for 2020.

Bendodo defended the Andalusian government's support for all companies, "without any complex" because they are the ones who "create employment and wealth in the territory" and he gave as an example the case of the wine sector, which is "one of the most important and with the most personality in Andalusia and the province of Cadiz".
