ASAJA reminds us that there is a profile of people who arrive every year in our autonomous community to try their luck. Of these, a significant percentage do not even have a regularised situation to reside or work in the Spanish State, so they cannot be hired under any circumstances.
In this sense, ASAJA urges agricultural employers to hire their workers in compliance with all the legal conditions, avoiding at all times employing those who do not have the regulatory permits, because of the damage this could cause if personnel are kept if they have an employment contract. This must also be subject to the relevant social control of the administrations and State Security Forces and Corps.
In the same way, the agrarian organisation reminds us that the labour relationship of farmers with their workers is defined and framed in the Collective Agreement of the Countryside of the province of Ciudad Real, signed by the employers and the trade unions. In addition, other rules governing training, the Occupational Risk Prevention Plan and the wages to be paid in the sector, among others, must be complied with.
The agricultural organisation, through its prevention service SEMPREAG, has been recommending that whenever possible, working hours in the fields should be adapted to take into account the high temperatures. It asks to take advantage of the early hours of the morning and avoid the hottest and most central hours of the day.
ASAJA takes this opportunity to insist on the importance of maintaining all social and hygienic distancing measures against COVID-19 on agricultural and livestock farms, as prescribed by the health authorities. The agricultural organisation stresses that it is vital that workers maintain all precautions so as not to compromise the harvesting of crops. In this sense, ASAJA asks for the commitment of the administrations, so that checks continue to be carried out and that they do not lower their guard in health controls. The agricultural organisation also appeals to the responsibility of each worker, both inside and outside the farm, to avoid contagion.
