07-07-2021

The sales of back labels in the Toro Designation of Origin between 1 January and 30 June 2021 have increased by 8% compared to the same period last year, mainly due to the quality of the wines and the trust that consumers place in our wines, according to the president of the D.O., Felipe Nalda.

Of the total of 8,577,500 bottles sold up to June, 3,180,000 bottles corresponded to the young range, with 2,897,500 bottles of young red. The oak range, with 4,562,500 bottles sold in the first half of 2021, is once again the type of wine most in demand by consumers, with the highest growth compared to the previous period, close to 14%.

These data are encouraging, as this situation shows that Toro's growth is unstoppable, given the difficulties we are going through at the moment, the fact of registering a constant growth, in this particular case of 8% in the first half of the year, is very fortunate and shows us that Toro's growth is unstoppable, is very fortunate and shows us that consumers continue to trust in the great work of wineries and winegrowers to achieve wines of excellent quality that the public likes and the figures prove it, since this shows the great loyalty that consumers have with Toro wines, which are increasingly in demand. Felipe Nalda, president of the Toro Designation of Origin, assures us that "the Control Board remains cautious about these figures, but we are confident that we can continue the exponential growth that Toro has been experiencing in recent years".

In addition, the president Felipe Nalda has highlighted the great quality of Toro wines and the increase registered, which is accompanied by stability in terms of the number of wineries and hectares of registered vineyards, something that shows that interest in Toro and its Designation of Origin continues to grow. The efforts of Toro wineries, winegrowers and the Control Board itself over time and during this year have managed to position and make known to the public the excellent wines made in Toro, supporting these figures.

On the other hand, the situation of the vineyards in the Toro Designation of Origin is currently "going well", as the Technical Director of the Control Board, Santiago Castro, told AGRONEWS CASTILLA Y LEÓN.

"At the moment we can say that the grapes in the different vineyards are healthy and there are no disease problems, it looks pretty good for the time of year we are in", Castro confirmed.
