The main reason why it has been determined that a completely virtual gala has to be held is due to the COVID-19 situation. "What we initially saw as a setback that we could not fight against, we have used it as an advantage to venture to innovate", says Jose Luis Pascual, President of the Vinduero Vindouro Awards.
Among the main guests at this edition are the tasting committee, all the participating wineries, all the D.O.'s of Spain and Portugal, and this year, as a novelty, the wine press has also been invited.
As in any regular event, attendees will be able to walk through a completely virtual world, discover information about the award-winning DOs of Spain and Portugal, applaud the winners at the gala, create their own personalised avatar and chat with all the attendees.
The event will begin at 18:00 hours with the reception of the attendees and their characterisation. Afterwards, there will be time to visit the exhibition area where you will be able to obtain the wine guide of the last edition, the award-winning appellations, meet the team of tasters and members of the international jury.
At 19:30 a.m. a brief welcome speech will be given by the journalists Javier Pérez Andrés and Agostinho Peixoto, who will talk about Spanish and Portuguese oenogastronomy, respectively. Both speakers are renowned journalists of great prestige specialising in the world of wine and gastronomy.
The 1st Vinduero Vindouro Awards Virtual Gala will begin at 20:00. During the event, the best wines in each category will receive their recognition in the general and women's versions of the awards. The 'Arribe de Platino' will also be awarded to the ten best appellations of origin. And to conclude the event, the 'Gran Arribe de Oro en Femenino' award and the 'Gran Arribe de Oro' award for the best wine of Spain and Portugal 2020 will be presented.
